"Aura" writing style

“Aura” by Carlos Fuentes captivated me. I think I was so enthralled by Aura because the story was so vague, walking through his actions methodically. The descriptions lacked emotions, which would make you think that a reader would be less attracted to the story. But on the other hand, maybe this is a better way of doing that. Maybe allowing the reader to become the character and create his or her own interpretations of the story causes the reader to become more attached. The reader has moved into the shoes of the character, and having their own real feelings towards what is occurring connects them more, causing the reader to have an investment. This writing style that Fuentes uses in his magical realism story is intriguing and inviting.
